It was 1989, and the night was warm, we had chosen the perfect night to get together and enjoy some drinks and some music.

Some people sat around the fire telling stories while others danced to some music. Everything was fine as we were all friends, that is until a group of about 6 or 7 people decided to crash our party. They were definitely from a different neighbourhood because non of us had ever seen them before.

They started a fight with two of our friends as soon as they arrived, and as you can guess a big brawl took its place within seconds, this was really bad for them, there were a lot more  of us then them, and after three of them were dropped the rest of them grabbed their friends and took off. This was lots of fun to say the truth, it had been a while since I had been in a fight and since no one was seriously hurt, I didn’t see much harm in it.

Anyways after that three of my friends and  I decided to walk downtown in Quilpue, and see if we could find a place that was opened so that we could have a few more drinks, I have to mention that at this time it’s already 3 am so not many places were opened, we walked and walked, giving up was not an option, we were committed, and after half hour it all paid off as we seen from some distance a group of people standing outside of a bar, it looked like they were just drinking out there.

This was good, we went in and sat at a table that was close to the window at the back of the bar, the place was loud and there were still quite a few people at the bar.

By this time it was already 4 am, but in Chile the bars would close at whatever time they wanted to, and as i took my eyes off of my watch and back on my friends i noticed that four police officers had just walked in.

This would’nt have been a big deal if one of the guys sitting at our table had not opened his big mouth and started swearing at the cops. I have to explain, the one guy that started yelling at the cops was in the marines and in Chile at that time for some reason the marines and the cops did not get along.

Thats where everything went down hill, one of the cops came over to our table and instantly grabbed me by one ear and pulled me up right off my seat and took me outside, this was scary as hell, I was only 17 years old and i had never been in trouble before, after all I was visiting from Canada.

To end this story I ended up spending the rest of the night in jail, they didn’t let me out until 11 am.

I was hungry, thirsty, and hung over.
